A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Lead Test Engineer (Hardware & Systems) to join a specialist engineering department, supporting the development and delivery of complex electronic products through robust test strategy and testability leadership.
This role performs the duties of a senior technical lead within the test and design community and reports to the departmental leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a team of Test Engineers / Test Architects within a complex product design environment
Take ownership of test strategy across the full product lifecycle, from design through manufacture and in-service support
Specify and manage product-level test requirements, including pass-out testing, BIT routines and in-service diagnostics
Ensure testability is designed into products, working closely with design, manufacturing and systems teams
Generate and manage compliance with lower-level test requirements, including test access, BIT coverage, timings and factory test functionality
Analyse and model systems to assess test coverage and generate diagnostic instructions
Identify and address test coverage gaps efficiently and pragmatically
Support trade-off decisions between cost, complexity and test coverage in collaboration with senior design authorities
The ideal candidate would have
Substantial experience in test equipment design, product testability or electrical / electronic engineering
Experience influencing technical direction across multi-disciplinary teams
A solid understanding of requirements capture, planning, project oversight and stakeholder management
Strong technical grounding in one or more of the following:
Digital electronics and microprocessor-based systems
Analogue electronics
Electronics testing and diagnostics
Test equipment design and delivery
The ideal candidate must have
Proven experience operating at a senior or lead level within a test, hardware or systems environment
Demonstrated people leadership capability or clear evidence of functional leadership and mentoring
The ability to work effectively across design, manufacturing and systems teams on complex products
