About the role
DNV Energy Systems Risk Advisory is seeking Senior and Principal Safety Consultants to join our Stockport office. You will work in cross-functional consulting teams involved in project delivery, project management, and business development. Our clients come from major hazard sectors including government agencies, energy producers and distributors, chemical manufacturers, renewables developers, and oil and gas operators. With our advanced research in hydrogen, carbon capture, and renewables, along with our modelling capabilities and process safety expertise, we are at the forefront of helping clients navigate the energy transition.
Risk Advisory is a growing department of approximately 150 people, with offices in Aberdeen, Loughborough, Stockport, and London. We provide safety and risk management services to the energy industry onshore and offshore, utilizing a range of tools for consequence modelling and risk analysis, validated through large-scale experiments at our research facility in Spadeadam.
Our Opportunity
As a Senior/Principal Safety Consultant, you will interact with customers and colleagues to collaborate on technical problems and develop solutions. You will help establish and implement the UK Risk Advisory strategy, provide project QA and technical direction, and support the development of other consultants through project management and coaching.
You will lead safety-related projects, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and expectations, while coordinating multidisciplinary teams. You will mentor junior staff, share your expertise, and contribute to service growth and innovation. Your role involves balancing technical innovation with practical delivery, fostering long-term client relationships, and engaging with the market through industry activities.

About you
We seek candidates with experience in safety and risk services, including:
* Renewables safety studies (H2, CCUS, Wind)
* HAZID/HAZOP leadership
* LOPA/SIL/Functional Safety
* QRA (onshore and offshore)
* Safety & risk engineering
* Safety cases and incident investigation
Additionally, you should have:
* A relevant STEM degree (minimum 2:1)
* Chartered Engineer status or progress towards it
* Strong analytical skills and experience with software/tools
* Effective communication and project management skills
The role is based in Stockport with flexible working options and travel requirements within the UK and overseas.
