We are excited to be expanding our CWAD (Children who are disabled) Residential Services in Dorset by providing an Outreach Service, initially based in Weymouth. This service will offer outreach support in the community throughout Dorset for children experiencing learning or physical difficulties.
You will play a key role in providing interventions to prevent children from entering residential care, support stability within their homes, and enable access to meaningful community activities. This role also involves working within our CWAD Residential Homes to support children living there.
We seek caring, committed, and positive individuals to join our supportive team of Youth Practitioners, working both in residential homes and in the community. Experience or understanding of neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism, would be beneficial.
We provide extensive induction and training, including access to a Level 4 Certificate in Therapeutic Care or a Level 3 Qualification, depending on circumstances. Regular supervision, employee benefits, and LGPS pension scheme are also available.
We encourage applicants to visit us to learn more about the role and ask questions.
What You Will Be Doing
Youth practitioners will act as positive role models, with knowledge of safeguarding, PACE, and therapeutic approaches. Experience with neurodiversity is beneficial, but full training will be provided. You should be resilient, reflective, and curious about the lives of our young people.
You will nurture and support children and young people, promoting independence in tasks like cooking and personal care. You will organize activities, liaise with professionals, and support the development of life skills through creative and engaging methods.
You will be part of a team and also work independently when needed. Responsibilities include writing and updating care plans, risk assessments, and behavior support plans, always seeking innovative ways to help children thrive and make choices.

* Are caring, motivated, fun, and enthusiastic.
* Are passionate about providing quality care and creating opportunities.
* Can build positive relationships with children and young people.
* Follow care plans and safeguarding procedures effectively.
* Think creatively to overcome barriers faced by our young people.
* Are eager to develop their skills and knowledge.
* Are committed to improving the lives of children and young people with disabilities and their families.
* Demonstrate resilience and work well within a team.
