Job Overview An opportunity has arisen for a Radiotherapy engineer wishing to further their career at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. We are seeking an experienced and patient focused Radiotherapy engineer to join our friendly medical engineering team in the Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) department. Duties will include, servicing and repair of our two Varian Radiotherapy linacs, one iX and one Truebeam. As well as Radiotherapy the post holder will be required to maintain ward based medical equipment plus other activities. Specific medical equipment experience is not essential as in house and manufacturer training is provided. Any specialist training may require foreign travel. Qualified to a minimum of, BTEC, ONC/HNC or equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering with a proven track record of experience in maintaining and repairing of complex electro mechanical based equipment. You will have excellent practical skills and a sound knowledge of equipment maintenance. Based at the Royal United Hospitals Bath the successful applicant will be expected to work at the RUH with potential travel within the local area carrying out duties as required at other healthcare locations by use of a department vehicle, therefor a current UK driving license is essential. There is the potential of a relocation allowance to the right candidate. An applicant with little experience in Radiotherapy with an engineering background may be considered on a lower band as a development role. Main duties of the job Duties of this post will include but are not limited to: Being responsible for management including appraisals of the Radiotherapy Team who also provide equipment support services to any healthcare establishment under contract with MEMS. Undertaking complex non-routine maintenance/ repair of all Radiotherapy, and electro-medical equipment, including highly complex repairs. This will include being the reference point for all technical aspects of Radiotherapy and electro-medical equipment and to liaise and provide advice to staff of all disciplines. Working alongside the Electro-Medical Team Leader to develop and operate a highly motivated and effective department including the provision of in house training for other technical members of staff. There is also a requirement to attend and contribute to MEMS management review, Radiotherapy Service Review and Physics Dosimetry meetings. The Post holder will also assist the MEMS Technical Services Manager to ensure training is sufficient for the tasks undertaken and attend any necessary training courses. Some training courses may require foreign travel.
