Parks and Visitor Services Division works with the community and volunteers to facilitate public involvement, visitation and appreciation of the natural and cultural environment on lands and waters managed by the department.
We currently have an opportunity for a Policy and Project Officer to join our Executive Support Unit.
Role:
This role is a key position within the Parks and Visitor Services Division Executive Support Unit that will help guide and support the successful development and implementation of policies, guidelines, systems and processes required to meet State Government, departmental and divisional priorities and strategies. A key part of this role will be to provide high-level executive and secretarial support to the Aboriginal Affairs Executive Steering Group, which will have a decision-making role on matters relating to Native Title, Aboriginal culture and heritage, and joint and cooperative management arrangements within the department. The role will entail meeting coordination, collating and preparing high-level agendas and papers, recording and circulation of minutes and decisions, and ensuring information is recorded and disseminated appropriately and in a timely manner.
Scope:
The Officer is expected to work independently (Level 6) or with limited guidance (Level 5), seeking advice from senior staff and the Executive Director as required.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
1. High (Level 6) or some (Level 5) level of experience in providing confidential administrative support at a senior executive level using discretion, initiative, and sound judgement.
2. Highly developed (Level 6) or well-developed (Level 5) written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and liaise with a variety of stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment.
3. Strong ability to use a wide range of computer software and takes the initiative to learn new software to improve processes (Level 6) or has strong abilities in use of computer software (Level 5).
4. Extensive (Level 6) or some (Level 5) experience in policy development, review, analysis and implementation.
5. Highly developed (Level 6) or well-developed (Level 5) conceptual and analytical thinking skills, research abilities, and problem-solving skills.
