Consultant Chest and Cardiac Radiologist

Applications are invited for the post of a full-time chest and cardiac radiologist at the Department of Radiology at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Applicants would be expected to have wide experience in chest and cardiac Radiology including chest and cardiac reporting and US and CT guided thoracic biopsies and drains and the department would be flexible in accommodating any secondary areas of interest.

The Department forms part of one of the most dynamic University Teaching Hospitals in the country, with an excellent reputation in patient care, research and development, and staff training/education.


Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities of this post include reporting chest and cardiac imaging and US and CT-guided thoracic biopsies and drains, participating in general on call and supporting MDTs and teaching. Job plan flexibility with consideration of extended working hours would be desirable.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue research interests in the areas of radiology and collaborative work with the University of East Anglia.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT in clinical radiology (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview), CESR, European Community Rights or an appropriate higher qualification.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* FRCR or equivalent.
* MRCP/FRCS
* Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
* Demonstrates understanding and commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
* Previous responsibility for service improvement.


Experience

* Awareness of the role of research in clinical practice.
* Extensive chest and cardiac Radiology experience including US and CT guided thoracic biopsies and drainages as documented by specialist training or experience at consultant level.
* Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
* Completed specialist Fellowship
* Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest
* Further area of interest to compliment current service


Circumstances

* Flexible outlook on working hours.
* Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time.
* Full driving license.


Communications and Language Skills

* Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues and support staff across the organisation.
* Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries.

£109,725 to £145,478 a yearper annum pro rata
