Purpose of the job
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join a multi‑disciplinary engineering team operating within an Approval Authority environment. The role supports both current operations and future programmes, contributing to the delivery and assurance of critical infrastructure within a highly regulated environment.
You will work alongside Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Building Services and Piping Engineers, collectively responsible for the development, assessment and maintenance of Engineering Design Substantiation. This work ensures that design intent, critical safety factors, and safety and operational requirements are satisfied in accordance with current legislation, regulation and recognised good practice.
Key Accountabilities
Author, develop, assess, maintain and manage engineering design substantiation documentationProduce and manage design change and concession documentationPresent design substantiation to formal nuclear safety governance and assurance committeesDevelop and maintain Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules and associated proceduresProduce and assess Periodic Review of Safety (PRS) reportsProvide technical advice and direction to internal and external stakeholdersProduce scopes of work for Independent Technical Assessments and Independent Peer ReviewsApply general and specialist civil/structural engineering knowledge, including emerging technologiesUndertake design, assessment and through‑life support of assets within a nuclear/high‑risk environmentProduce robust technical justifications for civil/structural design modificationsReview external contractor submissions, safety cases and technical reportsCheck and peer‑review calculations and technical documentation produced by colleaguesOccupational Skills and Knowledge
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete and steel structures subject to dynamic loading (e.g. seismic, blast, wind, snow and environmental loads)Experience working with reinforced concrete structures
Proven ability to produce robust technical justifications for design modifications in a high‑hazard industryExperience applying theoretical and practical engineering methods throughout the full asset lifecycleAbility to combine general and specialist engineering knowledge in complex environmentsStrong knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant structural design codesPourquoi nous rejoindre ?Employee Staff Benefits:
