DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Wireless Infrastructure team based in Fareham, Hampshire delivers nationwide mobile network services for all UK tower companies and mobile operators.
The department specialises in:
* Decommissioning of legacy mobile sites across the UK
* New build delivery, including acquisition & planning, surveys, and full design
* Construction services, covering civils, electrical installation, and rigging
* PCN and microwave link installation, alignment, and integration
* Site commissioning and handover for fully on‑air readiness
JOB OBJECTIVE
The Trainee Telecoms Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of wireless telecom site decommissioning projects. This is an entry‑level role designed for someone with strong organisational skills, excellent computer capability, and a growth mindset who is keen to develop into a future Project Manager.
The role focuses on coordinating subcontractors, managing documentation and safety plans, maintaining project tools, and supporting the Project Manager with day‑to‑day delivery activities. No prior telecoms experience is required; full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities / Learnings
Project Delivery Support
Coordinate with subcontractors to deliver decommissioning works safely and effectively.
Organise access, RAMS, permits, logistics and documentation needed for site works.
Support the Project Manager in tracking progress, risks, costs, and timelines across work packages.
Health & Safety & Site Documentation
Create, update, and own Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans (CPHSP).
Ensure all safety documentation is accurate, compliant, and provided to subcontractors on time.
Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with relevant H&S standards.
Planning, Scheduling & Reporting
Maintain project plans, trackers, and internal tools to ensure real-time accuracy.
Update external customer tools/portals where required.
Gather data on costs, time, and performance to support commercial and progress reporting.
Coordination & Communication
Act as a point of contact for subcontractors for day-to-day coordination.
Provide clear updates to the Project Manager on progress, delays, risks or issues.
Develop positive working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and partners.
Learning & Development
Build an understanding of wireless telecoms infrastructure, site decommissioning processes, and project management fundamentals.
Take increasing ownership of cost, programme, and safety elements of the work as competence develops.
Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and continuous improvement in all aspects of the role.

External:
Subcontractors, customers, suppliers, design consultants (where applicable), and other delivery partners.
Person Specification
Essential
Core GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
A‑level(s) or equivalent Level 3 qualification (e.g. BTEC, NVQ Level 3, T-Level) in any subject.
Strong computer skills (Excel, SharePoint, reporting tools, document control).
Excellent organisational, coordination, and communication skills.
A proactive attitude with a growth mindset, willing to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
Ability to build good working relationships and communicate clearly with subcontractors, customers and internal teams.
High attention to detail and ability to keep documentation and systems accurate and up to date.
Desirable (Training Can Be Provided)
Degree-level qualification (any discipline).
Basic understanding of construction, telecoms, or infrastructure projects.
Awareness of health & safety, RAMS, CDM, or site documentation.
Interest in project delivery, site operations, or coordination roles.
Full UK driving licence (or willingness to work toward one).
