Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support | Salary Scale: £13.80 to £15 per hour | Portsmouth | ASAP
Our client, a SEN school in Portsmouth, is seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within their SEN department, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural difficulties. This is a role to start immediately and continue for the remainder of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Supporting children with a range of special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom
* Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering inclusive lessons
* Help children achieve learning and development targets
* Work collaboratively with colleagues
* Support children with Social, Emotional and Mental health
Qualifications & Skills required for SEMH Teaching Assistant role:
* Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).
* Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essential
* Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
* A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
* Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.
