Summary
Urenco Limited is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Group Projects department, working at any Urenco location. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring that project requirements are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Project Engineer will manage complex engineering and design scopes across a range of projects, from €50 million to over €800 million in value, with engineering contracts up to €20 million.
The role involves supplier selection and evaluation, direct delivery of engineering/design scope, and oversight of value engineering at the project level. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, enabling the delivery of integrated, fit-for-purpose design solutions. They will actively promote a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and regulatory requirements, and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
This position requires business travel to coordinate with Urenco sites, FEED/EPCM contractors, and supply chain partners. The Senior Project Engineer will work closely with project teams to control costs, schedules, and quality, ensuring zero defects and adherence to safety and HSE requirements. They will also be responsible for managing technical risks, contract delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging industry best practices and lessons learned.
Skills
Strong project lifecycle management experience (minimum 8 years)
Proven project engineering experience (minimum 5 years)
Ability to manage multi-cultural teams (minimum 3 years)
Leadership and ability to work with minimal supervision
Cost predictability and budget control expertise
Contractual relationship and supplier management skills
Knowledge of engineering/design strategy implementation
Principal Designer Representative experience (desirable)
Excellent communication skills in business English
Ability to manage ambiguity and deliver to project requirements
Software/Tools
Project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera)
Document management systems (e.g., Documentum, SAP)
Certifications & Standards
Degree in relevant engineering discipline (essential)
Professional engineering qualification (e.g., CEng, PE, EUR ING) (essential)
Project Management qualification (e.g., APM, PMI) (desirable)
Security Clearance: SC required DV may be required depending on location and project assignment
