Western Road Surgery is looking for a Pharmacy Technician tojoin the Practices clinical team. As part of the team, you will be helping thepharmacists on medication audits, medication switches and being the focal pointfor medication queries from the administrative team. Western Road Surgery workson the Medication Optimisation Local Enhanced Service (MOLES) throughout theyear, which includes the roles above. You will be helping the Practice achieveits targets in ASTRU-PU reduction in line with ICB recommendations, as well asother medicines audits. Western Road Surgery is a research practice, whichinvolves running audits and completing improvement cycles for evidenced basedpractices. The Practice is made up of 6 partners, a nursing team, a largeadministrative team, a GP assistant and a Clinical Pharmacist. As a surgery, weare looking to build on the pharmacy team by adding another Clinical Pharmacistalongside a Pharmacy Technician.
Main duties of the job
Main Responsibilities
Reviewing and recording patient information withtheir prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the GeneralPharmaceutical Council
Undertake patient facing and patient supportingroles, by educating patients on the correct way to take their medicines
Supporting the pharmacist in the dailyoperations of the Practice
Answering incoming tasks and phone calls forpatient and staff queries, streamlining general prescription requests
Carry out Medication Optimisation in line withICB guidelines. For example antibiotic audits, quality improvement projects ,contributing to the Quality & Outcomes Framework and other EnhancedServices
Supporting medication reviews and medicationreconciliation for new care home residents
Liaise with the ICB for clinical aspects ofShared Care Protocols
Supporting the practice implementation ofnational prescribing policies and guidance
Assist with medication safety monitoringsystems, for medications such as DMARDs
Support the Clinical Pharmacists in StructuredMedication Reviews

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered with the GPhC
* Meets the specific requirements as laid out by the GPhC to register as a pharmacy technician
* Enrolled in, or qualified from the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP)
Experience
* Experience working in a Primary Care Network or a GP Surgery
* Experience working with SystmOne
* Experience in Audit and Quality Improvement
