Job overview

We are North Cornwall Community Rehabilitation Team, covering a large rural area and providing physical rehabilitation to adults over 18 in their home environment.

The aim of the service to help people to optimise and maintain their quality of life and independence. The service seeks to maximise each individual's potential by providing timely and goal orientated rehabilitation that is tailored to their needs.

The team comprises of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Support Workers.

The successful candidate will be working as part of the team providing primarily physiotherapy assessments and interventions, but will have scope for more generic working as appropriate and with the necessary training.

This is a part time post working 18.75 hours over 3 days with the exact working pattern to be discussed in interview.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.


Main duties of the job

The purpose of the post is:

• To undertake specific skilled physiotherapy support work (e.g. carrying out assessments using various treatment skills) to aid the rehabilitation of patients. To plan and implement interventions, using various treatment skills and to monitor progress and evaluate the outcome.

• To encourage patients and carers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence.

Key Dimensions of the post are:

• To practise autonomously, with the support of a qualified therapist and informing therapist of any problems

• To practise as a lone worker.

18. NVQ 4 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification / experience

20. Extensive experience of working in a range of therapy/ care settings eg hospital, community
21. Working with people to facilitate learning of skills or gaining of independence
22. Experience of working with people with a broad range of impairments/ disabilities
