Overview
Alora Vets are seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. We offer a diverse and interesting caseload, including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, consults, endoscopy, laparoscopy, radiology, and general surgery. The role can be tailored to suit your clinical interests, providing plenty of scope for professional development.
Role details
This is ideally a full-time role (40 hours) over 4-5 days per week; we understand work-life balance is important and are flexible with your pattern for the right candidate. You would take an equal share in the 1:5 weekend rota (Saturday 8:30am - 1:30pm) with TOIL the following week. While Vets Now cover our OOH provision, you would be expected to participate in a 1 in 5 rota for more stable in-patients.
Location and facilities
Alora Vets is based within a modern, purpose-built premises situated in Whitburn, just off the M8 and almost exactly halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh. We are a busy first opinion practice with a broad range of cases. The practice consists of four consultation rooms, separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, separate cat ward, dog ward and isolation kennels. We also have a purpose-built dental suite with dental x-ray, two operating rooms and a large prep area. On site we have digital x-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment.

Our practice currently consists of 5 veterinary surgeons with a wide variety of clinical interests from laparoscopic surgery and advanced dentistry to acupuncture. We have two certificate holders within the practice. Our clinical director holds a medical certificate, and our lead vet holds a dental certificate. Our three other veterinary surgeons each have their own areas of interest. Our nursing team includes one full-time HRVN, three full-time RVNs, one part-time RVN and one second year SVN. Our two ACAs are vital to our team, along with a Practice Manager, Insurance Coordinator and our six-strong reception team led by our Head Receptionist.
