Job Description:
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
A fantastic opportunity to join an exciting and rewarding team within NHS Highlands!
The Care Response Teams (CRT) was developed 4 years ago in response to the Covid 19 outbreak. However, it has now become an established service within NHS Highland where team members deliver urgent and short term care and support to different services across the whole of the North Highlands.
As a Social Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing personal care and support to service users in Residential care settings such as Care Homes and Care at Home Services, all over the North Highlands.
This will provide you with the chance to see a large variety of different services and environments, as well as different parts of the North Highlands from the northernmost shores in Caithness and Sutherland to the bottom glens of Fort William and Mallaig.
Due to the large geographical area that the CRT covers, overnight stays might be required, and use of your own car with full driving license is essential.
You will be required to work to a 4-on 4-off rolling rota which includes weekends and a variety of different 11.5-hour shift patterns, including Nightshifts.
Flexibility and a “Can do” attitude are essential, alongside a positive attitude.
Your role will be to provide high-quality care, assistance, and support to maintain and promote independence for people in their own homes or care facilities.
The role is closely supported by a team of fellow SCA, Social Care Workers, Team Leads, and a Team Manager. The team also works closely alongside other NHS professionals and Social Work services.
To carry out this role effectively and safely, candidates should have experience in dealing with vulnerable adults, especially older people, preferably in a caring capacity.
Applicants must have good communication skills – both verbally and written.
To comply with Scottish Social Services Council registration, candidates must be willing to complete a SVQ Level 2 within an agreed timeframe.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS).
