About the role

The Senior Land Services Officer – Soil Monitoring Program will play a key role in delivering the NSW component of the National Soil Monitoring Program in partnership with CSIRO.

This role has a strong fieldwork focus, requiring extensive and frequent travel across rural and remote NSW to establish monitoring sites, collect soil samples, and engage directly with landholders.

You will coordinate field teams, manage logistics, and ensure high-quality data is collected and submitted in line with national protocols.

The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to long‑term soil health monitoring and evidence‑based land management across NSW.

We are looking for an individual who can:

* Lead regional delivery of soil sampling and landholder engagement activities
* Coordinate field logistics, equipment, and data management for up to 702 monitoring sites
* Apply soil science expertise to site verification, soil classification, and sample collection
* Build and maintain productive relationships with landholders and stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with WHS, privacy, and data integrity standards
* Represent LLS in technical discussions with CSIRO and government partners
* Contribute to strategic planning, reporting, and continuous improvement of the program

About You

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:

* A degree in agricultural science, soil science, environmental science or related discipline
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with teams to delivering rigorous science projects in field‑based soil assessment and sampling
* Ability and willingness to travel frequently and extensively across rural and remote NSW
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly
* Commitment to public sector values, integrity, and inclusive service delivery
* Experience in project management including budgets, allocation of resources, and ability to report on results achieved.
