We’re working with a highly respected UK-based engineering organisation delivering advanced technology solutions into defence and secure environments. They are looking to appoint a Product Security Engineer to play a key role in protecting critical systems across the full product lifecycle.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role where security is built in from the ground up — not added as an afterthought.
You’ll act as a Product Security lead across multiple projects, ensuring systems are designed, developed, and maintained with security at their core.
Working closely with engineering, product, and quality teams, you’ll embed Secure by Design (SbD) principles while anticipating real-world threats — ensuring systems are resilient against both cyber-attacks and misuse.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Conducting security risk assessments across product development projects
* Embedding Secure by Design (SbD) principles throughout the lifecycle
* Developing and delivering security policies, processes, and artefacts
* Leading security reviews and working groups (internal & external)
* Supporting bid activity with security input and resource planning
* Ensuring all deliverables meet customer and regulatory requirements
* Collaborating across engineering, QA, and project teams What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
* Strong background in product / project security
* Experience with frameworks such as NIST (800 series), NCSC, or similar
* Security / Information Assurance knowledge (e.g. good practice guides)
* Proven experience in security risk assessment methodologies
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
* Clear communication and strong documentation skills
* Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC)
Desirable Experience
* Defence, MoD, or secure government environments
* Familiarity with Defence Security Standards (e.g. JSP440, Def Stan)
* Exposure to DevSecOps
* Knowledge of TEMPEST / EMC
* Broader risk management experience
