Heritage Manager (Fixed‑Term) role at Lyric Belfast
The Heritage Manager is part of a small marketing and development team and will deliver a 3‑Year Heritage project that will catalogue and preserve archival materials, develop public engagement programmes with partners such as NMNI and Linen Hall, and launch a dedicated history website.
This role is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Responsibilities
* Work with stakeholders to deliver the 3‑year Heritage Project, including: the condition survey, cataloguing and preservation of archival materials, and managing the Costume & Heritage collections.
* Coordinate the donation and archival process with the Linen Hall and update the Production Archive with missing biographical information for 1951‑1967 productions.
* Launch a dedicated history website and create an interactive Heritage Corner in the café bar.
* Collect local stories through digital storytelling, including written testimonials and recorded audio.
* Lead the public engagement programme, support the exhibition “A House of Play”, and develop outreach for young people.
* Represent Lyric Theatre at heritage events, manage third‑party suppliers and budgets, and report to funders, board and senior management.
* Prepare annual updates and conduct a final project review in 2028.
Qualifications
* Qualification in Theatrical Costume, Cultural Heritage Management, History, Archaeology or related courses.
* A degree and 3‑5 years of experience in archiving, heritage, administration or marketing in the arts sector.
* Excellent organisational, copywriting and presentation skills.
* Strong project and budget management abilities and experience with grant reporting.
* Experience with research and archives and an interest in theatre.

* Passion for heritage, history of the Lyric and good design sense.
