About DVSA
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is a fascinating place to forge your career. Tasked with keeping Britain moving safely and sustainably, we have a significant impact not only on road safety, but also on life moments that can only be enjoyed when people can easily travel to their destinations. As a Driving Examiner, you will be at the heart of this mission, helping ensure people get their driving future off to a great start. We are looking for proactive, friendly, and safe drivers who would like to train to become fully qualified Driving Examiners.
Training and Support
We will provide all the training you need to get your career off to an incredible start. Our test centres are grouped into clusters; we will ask you to select a cluster local to you. Once a job offer is made, you will start your training online, then undertake practical training at a local test centre. After that, you will receive up to three weeks of guidance at one of our regional training facilities before embarking on a fulfilling and varied career assessing the readiness of drivers seeking to secure their licences.
Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you will meet people from all walks of life, overseeing up to seven driving examinations a day. You will use your exceptional people skills to put nervous customers at ease while you walk them through instructions. Using a tablet to record your results, you will determine whether or not they are meeting the expected standards and deliver both positive and negative outcomes with tact and diplomacy.
