Job overview It is an exciting time to join the Emergency Department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital! We are pleased to announce an uplift in our staffing with the ability to expand our team significantly. We are looking for Band 2 HCSW to join our growing team.
The Emergency Department at the RGH is a busy department within a large district general hospital. The unit consists of a minor injuries unit, majors, ambulatory area and an adult and Paediatric resuscitation area.
Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity has arisen for both full and part time Healthcare Support Worker posts to work as part of the clinical team within the Emergency Department (ED). The successful candidates will work under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and will be expected to undertake fundamental aspects of patient care including undertaking patient’s vital signs and supporting nutritional needs.
The individual will be required to have good communication skills to be able to relate to patients, members of patients families and the multidisciplinary team that work within the clinical area.
Informal visits are encouraged.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Person specification Qualifications Good standard of general education including numeracy and literacy skills, with a commitment to undertake training to QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care/Clinical Healthcare Support
To hold QCF Level 2 qualifications in Health & Social Care/Clinical Health Care
Experience Previous care responsibilities worked within an emergency department
Skills Welsh language Speaking/Listening Skills at Level 3 or above
