Do you want to join a growing team of chartered accountants in Sussex as an Audit Trainee? We're supporting a local accountancy practice who are looking to grow its audit team with an additional member of staff. This is an exciting position, where you will work in an audit capacity servicing a varied portfolio of clients across the South-East. Our client is offering full study support and on-the-job training.
Job Summary
As a Trainee Accountant (Audit), you will work alongside experienced audit professionals to learn the procedures essential for a successful career in audit. You will also be supported in your professional studies toward either the ACA or AAT qualification, depending on your academic background (recent graduate or A Level leaver).

Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the completion of audit engagements both in the office and at client premises, reporting to the Audit Senior or Manager.
* Manage your daily tasks to support the Audit Senior throughout engagements.
* Communicate identified issues promptly with the Audit Senior or Manager to ensure timely resolution.
* Conduct assigned audit procedures as outlined in the audit plan.
* Identify and communicate issues raised, offering practical recommendations relevant to the business and risk areas.
* Complete audit programs and perform testing procedures in line with risk assessments and test objectives.
* Obtain and review evidence, ensuring that audit conclusions are properly documented.
* Adhere to departmental procedures and professional standards at all times.
* Communicate clearly and concisely with audit teams and clients to ensure accurate and efficient results.
* Take ownership of personal development and progression in line with standard audit career paths.
* Keep the Audit Manager informed of work progress.
* Perform other ad hoc duties as required.
* Maintain a compliance-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
* Support and research policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
* Stay up to date with legislation and maintain compliance with post-qualification education requirements.
Requirements
Skills and Knowledge
* Minimum 1 year of practical experience and actively studying toward a professional qualification.
* High integrity and a strong ethical approach to work.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Well organised, accurate, and able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and logical problem-solving skills.
* Team-oriented with strong collaboration abilities.
* Proficient in IT, highly competent in Excel, and confident using online accounting software.

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours / 5 days per week, Mon to Fri. 09.00 – 17.30 with lunch taken 13.00 – 14.00. We may consider alternative work patterns. Due to current resource levels, this will need to be a minimum of 30 hours / 4 days per week.
