Access & Value (A&V)

Outcomes Research Manager

Why Patients Need You

Our focus is on patients and understanding the critical role our medicines play to produce better patient outcomes. Access & Value (A&V) is a cross functional team of experts who create and execute comprehensive market access strategies through the integration of access policy shaping and stakeholder engagement, pricing and reimbursement, evidence generation and health economic modelling activities. Your expertise and innovative approaches will help us to better demonstrate the value of our medicines and their impact on patient outcomes.

Role Summary

You will be part of Pfizer's dynamic Market Access (Access & Value UK) team and will have the important role of evaluating and delivering on the patient-centred research needs for pre-marketed medicines. A&V comprises three sub-teams – Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Asset & Access (A&A) and Outcomes & Evidence (O&E). This role sits in the O&E team who lead the evidence generation needs to support reimbursement and access in the UK. Specifically, this role sits in the Outcomes Research (OR) side of O&E, focussing on how patient-centred outcomes can impact cost-effectiveness and ultimately, successful reimbursement of medicines and vaccines in the UK.

The individual will support the OR Senior Manager to assess the evidence needs, with respect to patient-centred outcomes, for our pipeline putting forward recommendations and seeking alignment from the cross-functional team and A&V leadership team for the need for new evidence. They will be involved in the conduct of outcomes research studies and literature reviews - managing the vendor conducting the study, driving the necessary milestones including study approval and protocol development as well as overall project management while complying with required processes and SOPs. Examples include literature reviews on the use of generic measures of health-related quality of life in specific disease areas and vignette studies with to generate quantitative measures of health-related quality of life for input in cost-effective models. In addition, they will manage cross-functional communications and collaboration across Medical, Commercial and A&V to ensure the study remains relevant to reimbursement.

We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate experience in using appropriate measures (such as patient-reported outcomes, patient-centred outcomes, clinical outcomes assessments) and methods to assess the burden of a disease on patient, families and/caregivers. The individual must have a scientific approach to solving problems, be able to apply core research principles to their thinking and their studies and have strong attention to detail. They will be managing multiple pipeline assets and will therefore need excellent time management and prioritisation skills. Strong interpersonal skills to positively collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders and key external stakeholders, such as patient groups and key opinion leaders, will also be required to ensure that our work is comprehensive and valuable to patients as well as the UK business.

Role Responsibilities

* Assessment of outcomes research needs for pipeline assets requiring:

* Thorough review of existing literature to establish impact of disease on patients, families and caregivers and assess whether sufficient evidence exists
* Guidance from HTA on the drivers of cost-effectiveness to assess impact of new evidence on cost-effectiveness and reimbursement success
* Continually close alignment with HTA and A&A
* Deliver outcomes research studies and literature reviews including management of vendors and internal processes to ensure compliance with SOPs and ABPI Code of Conduct where relevant
* Deliver high quality scientific publications including abstracts, posters, presentations and manuscripts
* Play an active role in the wider A&V team to enhance colleagues understanding of patient-centered outcomes research

* Ability to adapt and change strategies efficiently and pragmatically in response to shifts in market access needs
* Ability to convey complex data to technical and non-technical audiences
* Strong personal integrity and commitment to ethics and working in compliance with Pfizer policies and UK regulations
