Here at Vertu Motors we have a great opportunity for Stock Controller to join the team with a £33,000 basic salary. If you are looking for career progression and the chance to work for one of the largest Motor Retailers in the UK then this could be the opportunity for you.

The New Vehicle Stock Controller is responsible for managing the new vehicle stock ordering process, ensuring compliance with manufacturer stocking programs, maintaining optimal stock age profiles, and achieving stocking targets. The role involves minimising funding costs, managing Manufacturer Bonus debts, and safeguarding Group assets, all while aligning with Group and franchise-specific policies. The successful candidate will provide guidance to divisional and dealership teams, promote best practices in stock management, and work closely with senior leadership to produce data-driven insights that support business decisions. Additionally, the role requires active participation in seeking process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent organisational and communication skills. They must possess strong IT literacy, including proficiency in spreadsheet and data analysis, and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. High attention to detail, self-motivation, and enthusiasm for new vehicle stock are essential. The role also requires strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships across teams and a commitment to upholding company values in all aspects of the work.

Job Duties

Stock Management and Compliance: Control the new vehicle stock ordering process, ensuring compliance with both Group and JLR-specific stocking programmes. Authorise dealership new vehicle stock orders while adhering to Group policies. Monitor and manage the age profile of new vehicle stock. Provide support and guidance to divisional and dealership teams, promoting best practices in stock management. Ensure adherence to demo and courtesy car compliance. Organise stock and control any tactical pre registrations.

Data and Reporting: Collaborate with the Divisional Operational Director and Divisional Finance Director to produce spreadsheets and statistical data. Use data insights to maximise stock utilisation and assist in strategic business decisions. Control weekly new car targets and assist dealerships with month end closure. Create and maintain Divisional stock list to provide information to Sales Managers and Sales Departments.

Process Improvement and Asset Safeguarding: Actively seek and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Safeguard Group assets and ensure compliance with Group values in all processes.

Team Support: Serve as a key liaison between divisional and dealership teams, providing information and guidance as required. Promote a culture of collaboration, maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders. Create and present new car updates at both General Manager and Sales Manager meetings.

Policies and Processes: To be a champion of Group policy and processes and ensure they are explained, understood and implemented by your department. Specifically, the Vertu Active Sales Process, Group Finance policy and Stock policy.

Leverages own arguments and opinions to change the views of those in opposition. Chooses appropriate arguments and strategies to influence each distinct audience. Anticipates objections with effective counterarguments or perspectives. Uses examples and illustrations to get their point across and to strengthen their argument.
