Contract: Permanent, Term-Time Only (Enjoy your holidays!)
Are you an experienced Chef or Hospitality professional looking to step away from the service grind while still using your passion for food? This is your chance to trade the high-pressure line for a rewarding career in education, helping the next generation of learners find their feet in the industry.
TR2 is working with a leading Further Education provider in Cambridge, you will act as a Catering Specialist within the Supported Learning department. You don’t need to be a qualified teacher to apply. We are looking for your industry know-how and a positive, can-do attitude.
The Role
This isn't a desk job. You’ll be hands-on, mentor-focused, and split your time between the vibrant College Campus, and the prestigious kitchens at another local campus.
* Mentoring & Instructing: Lead small groups (often you with one or two students) in commercial areas like the buttery, kitchen, and dining rooms to help students with Special Educational Needs (SEND) develop employability skills.
* Expert Guidance: Use your kitchen experience to oversee practical sessions, ensuring students follow food safety and professional standards.
* Variety & Flexibility: Beyond the kitchen, you’ll support students with "skills for life," which can include educational shopping trips or helping them catch up on theory work.
* Cover Support: Provide high-quality cover for sessions using pre-provided lesson plans and resources.
Why Make the Move?
* Better Work-Life Balance: This is a term-time only role (38 weeks per year), meaning you get college holidays off.
* Growth Opportunities: If you don't have a teaching qualification, don't worry. The college will support you (including paying) in gaining your Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
* Great Perks: Enjoy free gym membership, a generous local government pension, and even discounts on Apple products.
What You’ll Need
We value your industry experience over your classroom experience. We are looking for:
* Culinary Background: A minimum of a Level 2 Chef qualification or at least 6 months of experience in a commercial kitchen.
* Communication Skills: The ability to simplify complex tasks and communicate effectively with young people.
* Adaptability: Someone who can think on their feet and stay calm under pressure
* Essential Standards: Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent) and a willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
