Cancer Council Australia is enhancing its national Cancer Navigation Service to offer more ways for Australians affected by cancer to access trusted information, emotional support and connection to services – now and into the future. Description About the Team Building on our well-established 13 11 20 confidential information and support service, the Cancer Navigation Service acts as a key point of entry, connecting people to tailored support including healthcare professionals, specialist cancer organisations, in-language services, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health services. About the Role As a Cancer Council Navigator, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based information and emotional support to people affected by cancer at any point along the cancer continuum. This is a non-clinical navigation role, operating within approved frameworks and referral pathways. Key responsibilities provide patient-centred emotional support screen for distress and supportive care needs refer to appropriate internal and external services provide trusted cancer information escalate risk appropriately support equitable access for diverse communities Skills And Experiences About You relevant qualifications and experience in health, social or community services strong communication and interpersonal skills ability to work with diverse communities willingness to work within evidence-based frameworks Oncology experience is desirable but not mandatory. Professional registration is not required.
