A highly successful group of companies (comprising contracting, manufacturing and logistics services), requires a driven and energetic Finance Director for one of its expanding businesses. The organisation provides logistics services (warehousing, pick and pack, delivery and collection) to a host of blue chip, household name companies, largely in the retail space. While reporting to the London based, Group FD, the Finance Director will provide financial support and business partnering to the Operations Director for the Northern warehouse locations. He or she will focus on cost management, inventory control and CVR preparation, in conjunction with Commercial Managers. With revenues now exceeding £50M, this Third-Party Logistics business, is a substantial part of a group turning over more than three times that. While also having an impressive facility in London, this role is based at the companys new Northern headquarters in Doncaster. The new premises is purpose built and state of the art, a fitting flagship for the business four Northern facilities based around Yorkshire. The Finance Director will have P&L and Balance Sheet control for all 3PL, Retail Contracts and Transport across the companys locations, utilizing the support of the central finance team where necessary. They will oversee the financial reporting of all logistics projects and evaluate / track capital investment programs. This is a highly commercial role, providing financial expertise and business partnering to local Senior Management as well as timely and accurate reporting to group finance. The Finance Director position comes with a competitive salary, benefits and bonus package. Other tasks within the FD role include but are not limited to: Design, prepare and maintain actuals, forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis for both customer-facing and internal purposes on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Support contractual negotiations for renewals and new business. Undertake data analysis reporting with a view to improving efficiency and improving process across the manufacturing platform. Reporting and monitoring key performance indicators. Oversee stock holding; both business owned, and client owned. Ensure that the business operates a robust monthly cycle counting process across all Northern locations. Work with operational team to help road map and implement process changes to reduce costs and improve productivity re pick/pack/ re-use costs and site profitability. Ensure accurate and timely billing of costs to the client, support commercial & procurement teams to minimise WIP. Continually review and analyse project commercial risk in conjunction with project surveyors. Ensure costs are accurately accrued within each period. Support, as required, on external client audits and financial audits. Provide local support and guidance on the development and implementation of a standalone ERP system for the logistics business. Suitable applicants will have: Bachelors degree in accounting / finance. Professional finance qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA). 10 years of experience in a similar financial leadership role. Demonstrable drive, energy and a commitment to the continuous improvement of overall contract performance. A proactive nature and will be inquisitive, with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance. Experience of new ERP implementation programs An ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards. Flexibility and the ability to respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests. Excellent customer relationship skills with the ability to develop good working relationships at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and analytic software; ability to perform database collection, use software programs to gather data for modelling and make meaningful use of the data. Experience with large databases and the ability to utilize data from various BI systems. Knowledge of Microsoft BI would be advantageous.
