Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Manufacturing Sector

An established engineering firm operating within the manufacturing sector is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of precision-engineeredponents for critical nuclear applications, with a focus on safety, reliability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the mechanical design ofplexponents and assemblies for nuclear systems, ensuringpliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
2. Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks or similar software
3. Perform engineering calculations and analysis to validate design integrity, including stress, thermal, and tolerance assessments
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and project management to ensure seamless product development
5. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers within the design team
6. Support design reviews, risk assessments, and documentation for regulatory submissions
7. Drive continuous improvement in design processes and contribute to R&D initiatives
Required Qualifications and Experience:
8. Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
9. Extensive experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within the nuclear, aerospace, or high-integrity manufacturing sectors
10. Proficient in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and engineering analysis tools
11. Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacture (DFM) principles
12. Familiarity with relevant nuclear industry standards ( RCC-M, ASME, ISO)
13. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
14. Strongmunication and leadership abilities
Desirable Attributes:
15. Experience with pressure vessel design or valve systems
16. Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001 and nuclear-specific QA protocols
