White Trees is an independent school that specialises in working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
About the Role
As a SEMH Teacher at White Trees Independent School, you will teach pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and/or ADHD, PDA, OCD, ODD. This may be on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan, with ILPs based on outcomes and aims from their EHCPs, outlining strategies and interventions to support their needs.
Responsibilities:
* Teach pupils with Education Health and Care Plans across various SEN needs and ages, especially those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and related conditions
* Provide quality teaching and learning for all pupils
* Be accountable for pupils' attainment and progress
* Support pupils' progress across the curriculum, differentiating as needed
* Produce pupil SEN passports, monitor social communication development, contribute to provision mapping and reviews, and develop ILPs
* Support staff training to meet pupils' needs
* Guide tutors, TAs, and HLTAs working with pupils with EHCPs
* Provide pastoral support and guidance
* Contribute to the development of teaching and learning across the school
Teaching:
* Set clear learning objectives, plan schemes of work, and short-term plans
* Use data to plan lessons and motivate pupils
* Set challenging yet realistic targets
* Establish high expectations for behaviour and learning
* Collaborate with staff and support staff
* Consider prior attainment and learning styles to set appropriate targets
* Develop literacy and numeracy skills throughout teaching
* Provide interventions for pupils needing extra support or challenge
* Manage pupil behaviour according to school policy
* Maintain classroom resources and safety
* Use ICT and other technologies effectively
* Create a stimulating learning environment
Assessment Recording and Reporting:
* Mark and assess pupils' work, providing feedback
* Keep records to monitor progress
* Use data to set targets and plan activities
* Report on pupils' attainment and progress
* Set and mark exams and coursework
* Attend parent meetings and communicate with families
* Use pupil information to support access to the curriculum
Professional Responsibilities:

Qualifications and Skills:
* QTS or equivalent with SEMH/SEN experience
