An IT Services company, specialising in Hosting, Outsourcing and Consultancy Services are looking for an experienced IT Field Engineer responsible for providing 1st Line and 2nd line IT Support, to join their fantastic team to help them deliver projects and provide support to clients both over the phone and face-to-face.
Duties
1. Configuration – all aspects of desktop/server hardware installation and builds, delivery to customer environment
2. Working in data centres to install new rack, servers, storage and network devices
3. Repairing or troubleshooting faulty equipment, installing and configuring hardware and software
4. Resolving first-line user support requests onsite and over the phone
5. Responsible for travelling to client sites, in and around England, to deal with issues which require an onsite presence and for project works
6. You will be required to play an active role in the team, remaining flexible to support others in busy periods and be prepared for working long periods away from home
7. Long journey times may also be involved
8. Work as part of a team to deliver a project
About you
To be an Field Engineer Apprentice, you must be a tech enthusiast with 5 GCSEs (ideally A* – C, 4-9) including Maths and English.
This 18-month Apprenticeship has a salary of £22, / £24, per year.
Your training will include gaining internationally recognised Level 4 IT qualifications.
Skills and personal qualities required
9. At least 1-2 years’ experience in a 1st Line, client-facing support role
10. IT graduate with a minimum 2:2 IT degree
11. Minimum of MCP, MCITP, A+ and CCENT
12. Good Hardware Knowledge – PC’s, Laptops, Servers and Printers
13. Preferred knowledge – Windows Server, ; Networking, Active Directory, Apple/MAC devices, Citrix
14. Excellent knowledge of desktop operating systems (XP, Vista and Windows 7,8 & 10), MAC OSX and Microsoft Office
15. Experience of the installation and configuration of peripheral devices; e.g. Network Printers, ADSL Routers, and LAN Switches
16. Data Centre Experience recommended
17. CCNA would be beneficial
