We work for a range of clients including national government agencies, local authorities, private developers and community groups. What does the role involve?

Working as an engineer in our active travel team, you'll be exposed to project work across all stages of design development and pre‑construction, from inception through to detailed design, with potential for site supervision responsibilities during construction.

* You will undertake engineering design and development through proven techniques and procedures to develop appropriate solutions to client problems, including preparation of feasibility studies to assess constraints, risks, opportunities and route and/or provision type options.
* Undertaking elements of design including cycle track/path alignment, drainage, kerbing, footways, traffic signs and road markings.
* Producing design outputs such as drawings, specifications, schedules, reports and calculations to achieve the optimum solution for the project.
* Working in close collaboration with your team and other design disciplines, appreciating their roles.
* Ensuring deliverables are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets.
* Ensuring solutions meet client needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
* Liaising with clients and contractors and supervising works on site when required.
* Ensuring all work is carried out to the Company’s IMS and current H&S legislation requirements.
* Taking ownership and responsibility for the quality of work you produce and committing to professional development through in‑house training and engagement with professional institution activities.
* Working as part of a diverse and collaborative team to identify and develop solutions to client problems.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess some or all of the following:

* A degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or equivalent, and be working towards a relevant professional qualification.
* Knowledge and experience of the planning and delivery of active travel and sustainable transport projects or work packages on larger multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Experience of undertaking geometry design in accordance with Cycling by Design and LTN 1/20 Cycle Infrastructure Design, using Civils 3D software.
* An understanding of urban design principles and a holistic approach to linear infrastructure design focused on more sustainable transport modes and integrated design.
* Understanding of highway regulations and guidance such as Manual for Streets, DMRB, TSRGD, MCHW and the Traffic Signs Manual and how to apply these in practice.
* Knowledge of drainage design including network assessment, SuDS design and liaison with relevant stakeholders.
* Experience with AutoCAD and integration with the BIM environment.
* Experience creating 3D visualisations to aid stakeholder engagement events (desirable but not essential).
* Confidence to present design solutions and discuss progress internally and to clients and stakeholders.
* A desire to learn, progress and challenge yourself.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
