Head Gardener Location: Burton on Trent Hourly Rate: £13 - 13.50 DOE. OT potential with raised rates Contract type: Permanent, Full Time. Start in May 2026. Working hours: 40 hours. Monday - Friday 07:00 - 16:30 About the role We are looking for a Head Gardener to join our team based out of Burton covering local Green Flag status parks & gardens for one of our main contracts. You will be responsible for the overall management and maintenance of gardens and landscaped areas (including planting and flower displays) for Burton in Bloom, an initiative we've won for the last 16 years! This role involves maintaining all grounds to ensure they are aesthetically pleasing, healthy, and thriving. You will oversee a small team of gardeners, ensure proper horticultural practices are followed and manage resources efficiently. Requirements Experience in leading and managing a team within a horticulture environment i.e., organising & allocating shifts, delegating tasks etc. Horticultural knowledge is a must; experience in propagation, design and bedding of plants, tree planting, shrub identification and a wider horticulture background. General Grounds Maintenance duties in addition to the above including, mowing, strimming, weeding of sites including roundabouts and beds in local area Overall understanding of health and safety procedures. Ability to communicate well with colleagues, clients and the general public Relevant horticultural qualification e.g. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent HND/HNC and above Full, clean UK Driving Licence Why join us?
