Engineering Operations Technician (EOT), DCEO
The Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) team plays a vital role in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Operations, supporting the rapid growth of our business and customers 24/7 in cloud data centers. As part of the Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) organization, this position reports to the DCEO Manager.
We seek a highly self-motivated individual interested in learning about and managing AWS operations within critical facilities owned and operated by Colocation Providers. Candidates with less experience will be trained to manage critical facility operations within colocation provider environments.
The EOT is responsible for coordinating with Colocation Providers to operate and maintain their critical electrical and mechanical (E&M) equipment, ensuring high availability for our cloud services. E&M equipment includes, but is not limited to, standby diesel generators, HV/LV switchgear, UPS systems, Batteries, PDU’s, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, CRAHs, PLC Controls, Building Monitoring Systems, and fire suppression systems. Additionally, the EOT serves as a front-line technical support responder for E&M facilities across multiple sites and manages rack power-up and rack-down events.
Key job responsibilities
1. Maintain 24/7 operations coverage with flexible scheduling, including predefined 12-hour rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities.
2. Coordinate with Colocation providers, contractors, and internal teams for daily operations and routine maintenance monitoring of critical E&M facilities.
3. Participate in emergency drills and support emergency facility event responses according to established protocols.
4. Act as first responder for all critical E&M equipment and rack-down event alarms, ensuring timely escalation for issues within established SLAs.
5. Facilitate equipment rack power-up installations with Colocation providers by assessing rack space, power, and cooling requirements.
6. Maintain critical facility safety and security standards in AWS areas.
7. Execute small-to-medium projects from inception to completion to enhance data center operations.
8. Utilize AWS administrative tools for maintenance, incident management, and asset management.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
* Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems
* Intermediate bilingual communication skills in English and Chinese
Preferred Qualifications
* 1+ years of data center engineering experience
* Knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, Controls)
* Knowledge of electrical competencies and theory
