Mechanical Project Engineer £45,000 - £50,000 Vehicle Allowance Kent / South East – Office & Site Based Are you a mechanically biased Project Engineer from an industrial or manufacturing environment, looking for more ownership, autonomy and technically interesting projects? This is an opportunity to join a specialist engineering contractor delivering complex machinery installations, removals and factory relocations across the South East. You’ll work closely with the Director, take responsibility for real projects, and operate in a business that values experience over process. About the Company The business operates in a very niche industrial space, delivering: Industrial machinery installations and removals Factory and production line relocations Heavy and complex lifting operations using cranes and specialist plant Turnkey delivery from survey through to completion They are a small, highly experienced, non-corporate team with a strong reputation and a consistent pipeline of inbound work. You won’t be micromanaged. You’ll be trusted to manage your projects properly, with direct access to the Director and support where needed. The Role This is a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineering role, combining technical, commercial and site responsibility. Typical duties include: Surveying customer sites and assessing machinery, access and constraints Planning and managing mechanical installation and relocation projects Producing and reviewing RAMS, lift plans and project documentation Coordinating labour, cranes, plant and specialist subcontractors Managing projects on site and ensuring safe, efficient delivery Acting as the technical point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle Supporting quotations, costings and commercial decisions This is not a desk-only role. Regular site presence is expected. What We’re Looking For We are specifically targeting someone with a strong industrial mechanical background who is already operating at Project Engineer level. Ideal backgrounds include: Mechanical Project Engineer (industrial / manufacturing) Installation or relocation Project Engineer Mechanical Engineer with proven project ownership Maintenance or manufacturing engineer who has transitioned into projects Essential Experience Solid mechanical engineering background (industrial machinery, plant, production equipment) Proven experience delivering mechanical projects end-to-end Confident working on live industrial sites Experience producing or working with RAMS and lift plans Strong communication skills with clients, suppliers and site teams Good IT skills (Word, Excel, project documentation) Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South East Training & Support While this is a senior role, the business will support further development in: Advanced lift planning and Appointed Person (AP) progression AutoCAD LT (2D layouts and planning) Commercial exposure and higher-value project management Why This Role? £45,000 - £50,000 salary vehicle allowance No business development or cold calling – work comes inbound Direct access to the Director and real decision-making authority Technically interesting, non-repetitive industrial projects Growing business with genuine long-term stability and progression This role suits an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer who wants responsibility, trust, and proper industrial work.
