Project Supply Chain Leader

Location: Plymouth

Appointment Basis: Permanent

Salary: c. £50K + Benefits

We are seeking a full-time Project Supply Chain Leader to join our team in Plymouth. You will be a key member of the Supply Chain team based at Laira depot, responsible for establishing and developing standard process implementation.

Your future role

In this role, you will apply your expertise in Project Supply Chain management within a cutting-edge environment. Reporting to the Platform Materials Manager, you will work alongside a dedicated Services team in Alstom UK&I.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Building robust processes, managing a high-performing team, and ensuring the timely availability of materials to keep operations running smoothly.
* Leading and inspiring the depot Supply Chain team, managing daily activities and performance.
* Developing and implementing standardized supply chain processes aligned with Alstom’s platform-wide practices.
* Ensuring material availability across projects while maintaining cost efficiency and controlling material spend.
* Using the TAC (Total at Completion) model for material cost variance analysis and reporting.
* Managing SAP Costed Bill of Materials (CBOM) for accurate material planning and forecasting.
* Optimizing inventory levels and storage to ensure availability without overstocking.
* Overseeing safe and compliant storage of materials and consumables.
* Implementing logistics strategies to strengthen our supply base and reduce unplanned costs.
* Championing lean principles, including lineside delivery and JIT (Just-In-Time) supply.
* Developing KPIs to monitor and improve team performance, culture, and behavior.
* Supporting strategic locations and ensuring fleet readiness.
* Creating solutions for storage of bogies and wheelsets.
* Monitoring inventory through KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
* Using TAC analysis for governance, identifying overspend/underspend opportunities, and optimizing outcomes.
* Meeting inventory targets through proactive planning and management.
* Growing team capability via leadership in performance management, talent development, training, and succession planning.

Essential:

* Expertise in managing C-BoM’s (Costed Bill of Materials)
* Understanding of how sub-functions are integral to the train maintenance value chain
* Knowledge of Variance and Synergies between TSSSA & TSA (Full maintenance or material only)
* Experience with Warehousing & Logistics
* Familiarity with Portfolio Projects in the UK context
* Proficiency in SAP, ERP, C-BoM
* Skills in Materials Analysis, Inventory Management
* Experience in Warehousing and Stock Checking
* Understanding of Governance and Safety protocols
* Experience managing complex projects
* A successful track record in reducing and controlling costs
* Experience in business process reengineering through IS/IT and change programs
* Negotiation and leadership skills
* People management experience
* Fluent in English, with negotiation level proficiency

Desirable:

* Experience with Maximo Maintenance Management System
* Familiarity with Maximo Asset Management software
* Knowledge of Asset Information Management System (AIMS)
* CIPS qualification
