Job Description:
Core Technical Requirements
Candidates must have strong hands-on experience with large-scale Dell PowerScale (Isilon) deployments, including:
* Administration, maintenance, and performance optimization of PowerScale clusters in multi‑protocol environments
* (NFS / SMB / HDFS / S3)
* SyncIQ expertise, including:
* Large-scale migrations across clusters
* Multi-directional and delta replications
* Multi-protocol SyncIQ jobs
* Disaster Recovery operations (failover, failback, DR testing)
* Snapshots & SnapshotIQ
* Deep understanding of filesystem operations
* Multi-protocol authentication & permissions models
Cluster Lifecycle & Refresh Activities
* Full cluster tech refreshes
* Adding and integrating new nodes
* Intra-cluster data rebalancing
* SmartFail (planned & unplanned decommissioning)
* Network re-cabling and interface reconfiguration
* Switch refresh / replacement coordination
* Adherence to Dell best practices and customer architecture standards
Networking & Security
* Strong networking fundamentals:
* VLANs, LACP, MTU, routing
* DNS, NTP
* Designing and validating network connectivity for PowerScale
* Coordinating with firewall/security teams for:
* Required port openings
* Routing and segmentation
* End-to-end data path testing
Authentication & Directory Services
* Advanced Active Directory integration:
* Multi-domain / multi-forest environments
* Trust relationships
* ID mapping and permission troubleshooting
* Proven ability to resolve complex authentication issues in distributed environments
Preferred / Plus Skills
* Experience tuning PowerScale for HDFS workloads
* Exposure to Hive, Impala, and PowerScale-specific HDFS behavior
* Support experience with large clusters (25–70+ nodes)
* Prior involvement in vulnerability management
* Direct client-facing experience with demanding enterprise customers

* Comfortable operating in high-pressure production environments
* Strong communication across storage, network, security, AD, and application teams
* Familiar with ITIL processes (Change / Incident / Problem Management)
