Rate of Pay: £15.08 - £18.34 per hour
Summary:
To deliver a safe, efficient, and high-quality waste collection and transportation service across Plymouth. The role includes operating HGV waste collection vehicles, supervising crew where required, and ensuring compliance with all safety, legal, and environmental regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Drive and operate specialist HGV waste vehicles (up to Category C or C+E).
* Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the crew and public during collection and tipping.
* Carry out pre-use and daily vehicle checks, and ensure vehicle cleanliness.
* Supervise collection crew and ensure quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
* Record and report vehicle defects, incidents, and near misses in accordance with policy.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
* Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent)
* Understanding of health and safety regulations and customer service in a public environment
* Working knowledge of LOLER, environmental regulations (or willingness to work towards)
* WAMITAB Level 2 Certification (or working towards)
* IOSH Working Safely (or working towards)
Essential Requirements:
* Full HGV Category C Driving Licence
* Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
* Valid Digital Tachograph Card
Required Experience:
* Demonstrable experience driving HGVs (Category C/C+E), preferably specialist vehicles
* Experience working in frontline, customer-facing roles
* Familiarity with safe systems of work and health and safety practices
* Teamworking experience in an operational environment
