A big-kid-at-heart who can swap from CFO (Chief Finger-paint Officer) to safeguarding super-hero in the time it takes a two-year-old to shout "LOOK AT MY DINOSAUR ROAR" You'll lead an incredible team of 11 playful educators, keep the grown-up paperwork humming and still have the energy to join the lunchtime conga.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our nursery. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with a passion for early childhood education. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while also managing staff and engaging with parents.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the nursery team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
* Develop and implement age-appropriate educational programmes that promote children's development and learning.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards.
* Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their children's progress and any concerns.
* Manage daily operations, including staff scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
* Provide support and guidance to staff in their interactions with children, ensuring high-quality childcare practices are upheld.
* Organise training and professional development opportunities for team members.
* Oversee the maintenance of the nursery facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment for children.
Essential super-powers
* Level 3 Early Years (or equivalent) – because you already speak fluent "toddler"
* Level 2 Food Safety – you can turn broccoli into a rocket ship
* 2+ years in a leadership role in an early-years setting
* Clear enhanced DBS & right to work (non-negotiable – even super-heroes need clearance)
Bonus super-powers
* Paediatric first-aid (kiss-it-better level 100), we will provide training if not
* Makaton or BSL – hands are for talking AND high-fives
* Experience with managing allergies, specialist food requirements – you know your soya from your quinoa
Experience
* Proven experience in management or leadership roles within a childcare setting is essential.
* Strong background in early childhood education or related fields is highly desirable.
* Experience working directly with children in a nursery or similar environment is required.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with staff, parents, and children.
