Due to our continued growth we are now recruiting for a DFM Engineer to be based in Crewe, The UK (5 days onsite required). THE ROLE: The DFM Engineer will be responsible for delivery of interior DFM (design for manufacture) activities, supporting the area of wood, instrument panel and console. The role involves validating product design and assembly processes, influencing engineering decisions, and ensuring manufacturability from PF Gateway to LH Gateway. The successful candidate will be embedded on-site full-time and will coordinate offshore studies if necessary. DFM Engineer is responsible for supporting the PL/PE/DE to ensure service is delivered with the right quality meeting customer expectations. Responsible to ensure DFM delivery requirements are robustly deployed. AREA OF RESPONSABILITIES: · Ensure early forecast of manufacturing issues and plan of actions to resolve. · Provide technical guidance as per domain requirements to PE/DE and customer throughout the project phases · Keep track of issues arising and resolve them. · Be the go-to person for PE/DE on DFM issues. · Be the technical excellence link between the customer and the project team to ensure robust and first-time right approach. · Work close with customer/PE/DE and ensure project plan is on track for delivery. · Influencing product concept, style and part design through data analysis, technical knowledge and supporting recommendations, validation of assembly feasibility for key parts/systems/areas at regular, pre-determined intervals to align with key project gateways/milestones. · Completion of targeted studies to compare feasibility of different concept proposals for key components/areas, including recommendations for concept selection. · Delivery of targeted studies to demonstrate requirements for a feasible design (i.e. changes required to product design, assembly sequence, facilities etc. to ensure a feasible assembly condition). · Validation of R&D drawings. · Part analysis of new parts within B-release window. · Validation of manufacturing assembly sequence within DELMIA/Tecnomatix based on process documentation. · Validation of the product within DELMIA/Tecnomatix based on vehicle BoM. · Maintenance of all reports and KPI charts relevant to virtual analysis. · Close working with Manufacturing Feasibility Engineers and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Technical Managers. · Participate in and support regular project meetings, including: DFM reviews, R&D design reviews, Internal project reviews, Concept zone reviews, Start-of-shift meetings etc., Realisation requirements: Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) achieved against an agreed set of targets. Typical targets include: · Timing/tasks against plan · Completion of key targeted studies against plan · Generation of project status updates, part/assembly/process issue reports and summary sheets · Supply of virtual analysis data and videos, as required · Reviews on time and attendance · Project milestone delivery · Resolution of issues against plan · Completion of feasibility assessment against B-release curve · Population of virtual analysis trackers KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE: · Proven technical excellence with experience in automotive interior design for manufacture, specifically in wood, instrument panel, and console systems. · Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles for interior components. · Proficiency in CAD tools and virtual build platforms (e.g., DELMIA, Tecnomatix). · Experience conducting tolerance analysis and feasibility studies. · Familiarity with vehicle BoM structures and process documentation. · Ability to coordinate offshore studies and integrate findings into on-site project delivery. · Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for cross-functional collaboration. · Ability to lead the resolution of technical and process issues as they arise. Successful history from automotive domain an added advantage · Excellent organisation skills, prioritising multiple project activities and guiding the team in right direction and to manage documentation, reporting, and KPI tracking. · Proven track record, Experienced in OEM or tier one component delivery. · Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes will also prove invaluable. · Ability to lead the resolution of business, technical and process issues as they arise. · Proficient in MS Office applications. · Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree 2:1 or above, or equivalent qualification or experience.
