About the apprenticeship
Duties
Prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks for children aged [3months – 11years)
Cater for individual dietary needs including allergies, intolerances and cultural/religious preferences.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
Follow food safety regulations and complete all required documentation (e.g. temperature checks, cleaning rotas, stock rotation).
Ensure portion sizes are suitable for children’s ages and stages of development.
Communicate with staff and parents regarding dietary needs or menu queries.
Contribute to creating a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment for children
Additional information
The post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
Staff are expected to uphold the nursery’s safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
Requirements
Qualifications
GCSE Grade A-CPrevious experience in an early years or childcare setting.
Knowledge of special dietary requirements.
Relevant catering or nutrition qualification.
