Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position based in SA Distilleries at the Goudini Distillery. The successful candidate will report to the Distillation Technologist.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
* Efficiently operate Copper and Big Pot Stills on a 12hour shift basis
* Continuously monitor and manage the distillation processes
* Organoleptic evaluation of distillate on a continuous basis to ensure quality product
* Ensure strict loss control on the distillation processes
* Clean, repair and do maintenance on stills and equipment in the stillhouse
* Ensure accurate record keeping of required documentation
* Ensure compliance with OHSAct standards
* Drawing and testing of production tank samples
* Participate in TPM team activities (World-Class Manufacturing)
* Participate in effective problem solving
* Rotate to Fermentation, Brandy or Wine Department during shutdown
* Adhere to general housekeeping and 5S standards
* Ad hoc duties as and when required
The successful candidate must have the following attributes, qualification, skills and experience:
* Grade 12 or equivalent
* A relevant tertiary level qualification will be advantageous
* Relevant experience in a distillation environment would be highly advantageous
* A minimum of 3 years general Cellar experience
* Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision
* Accuracy and attention to detail orientated
* Excellent Health
* Ability and willingness to conduct sensory evaluations
* Computer literacy (MS Office)
* Willingness to work irregular hours on a shift basis (evenings and weekends included)
* Own or access to reliable transport
* Punctuality and attendance reliability
