We are recruiting for a Personal Advisor to join our team, supporting care leavers as they transition to independent living. About the Role As a Personal Advisor, you will act as a corporate parent for young people preparing to leave the care of the local authority. Your role will focus on providing practical advice, emotional support, and guidance to help care leavers reach their full potential. You will: Build and maintain meaningful relationships with young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. Support care leavers in developing emotional, social, and financial skills for independent living. Coordinate services and encourage young people to access the support available. Work with partner agencies and professionals to promote positive outcomes. Keep accurate records and contribute to pathway plans and reviews. Provide a flexible response during times of crisis, including occasional evenings and weekends. Act as an advocate for young people’s rights, promoting equality, safeguarding, and well-being. About You We are looking for someone who is committed, empathetic, and motivated to make a real difference. You will bring: A good standard of education to at least NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent). Knowledge of the challenges facing young people leaving care. Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport. Effective organisational and time management skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding. Willingness to travel across the borough and work flexibly, including evenings and weekends. Experience or qualifications in Advice and Guidance, Health and Social Care, or a related field would be an advantage. Why Join Us?
