Overview
Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital is seeking an experienced Charity Shop Manager to lead our retail team in our Worthing Shop on 1-year contract. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As the Shop Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring that our shop meets its sales targets while providing an outstanding shopping experience for our customers.
At the end of October the shop is being expanded to include a coffee shop offering hot drinks and hot food such as crumpets. This is a really exciting time for the charity as we move into this venture.
The ideal candidate would have experience in recruiting, training and managing a team of volunteers as well as charity shop management. Any experience as a barista would also be welcome.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the shop team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Oversee daily operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and sales strategies.
* Train, supervise, and motivate staff to achieve individual and team performance goals.
* Develop and implement effective sales management techniques to drive revenue growth.
* Maintain high standards of customer service by ensuring staff are well-trained in communication skills and phone etiquette.
* Organise promotional activities and merchandising displays to enhance product visibility.
* Monitor stock levels and manage orders to ensure optimal inventory control.
* Handle administrative tasks including scheduling, reporting, and performance evaluations.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the shop environment.
Requirements
* Proven experience in retail management or a similar supervisory role is essential.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer engagement.
* Strong organisational skills with effective time management capabilities.
* Experience in merchandising and sales management is preferred.
