Job overview


By working clinically as a member of the nursing team you will work in partnership with the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse to provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership for a ward based team of qualified and non qualified staff. The post holder will be required to deputise in the absence of the Ward Sister and ensure a positive patient experience through the delivery of high standards of patient care.

Leading clinical nursing practice within the clinical area

Securing and assuring the highest standards of clinical care with the support of the Matron

The effective management of clinical and non-clinical risk reporting to the Ward Sister/ Charge Nurse

The post holder will be expected to deal with complaints and queries from staff, patients and relatives

You will be an inclusive proactive member of the senior nursing team within specialist services.

You must be able to use your own initiative by leading, developing, improving and monitoring standards of care to ensure safety for all patients and staff.

The junior sister/charge nurse will work collaboratively with the members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a quality service for our patients.

You should have knowledge of the complex discharge process and be able to work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external agencies to provide seamless and safe discharge.

The new post holder will be supported in their role and will be given the opportunity to achieve their full potential as a competent and effective ward junior sister/charge nurse.
