Role Overview
Southend Breast Imaging is part of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and provides breast screening and symptomatic services at Southend Hospital and mobile screening vans in the community.
Responsibilities
* Provide and maintain a high standard of mammography for all patients and clients attending for breast imaging.
* Assist Enhanced and Advanced Practitioners with core biopsies, VABs, and localisations during interventional procedures.
* Conduct daily, weekly and monthly quality control tests in line with the department's quality assurance programme and report any equipment malfunction or image deterioration promptly.
* Perform regular self‑assessment and peer review of performance associated with service audit, contributing to quality improvement.
* Perform all mammography examinations to the highest standard with precision and speed in line with NHS Breast Screening Programme guidelines, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with departmental protocol.
* Use relevant knowledge, clinical experience and departmental protocols to select the appropriate mammographic projections and exposures, ensuring optimum diagnostic imaging.
Qualifications
* UK‑issued PG Cert in Mammography Practice.
* Female candidates only, as required by UK regulations for the mammographer role.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Self‑motivated, enthusiastic and able to integrate well with the existing team.
* Excellent concentration, attention to detail and empathy for client/patient needs.
