Job Summary:
The Business Finance associate will serve as a key financial business partner. This role is responsible for providing strategic financial guidance, insightful analysis, and robust financial planning to support decision-making, drive performance, and ensure the achievement of financial objectives. The Business Finance Associate will act as a bridge between finance and the business, translating financial concepts into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as a trusted financial advisor to business unit heads and their teams, providing proactive financial insights and recommendations.
* Support strategic decision-making processes by conducting financial feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and scenario planning for new projects, product launches, or market entries.
* Collaborate with business partners to develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to their operations.
* Provide financial expertise during commercial negotiations, partnership evaluations, and licensing agreements.
* Lead and manage the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for assigned business units/functions.
* Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support various business scenarios, investment decisions, and strategic initiatives.
* Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide clear explanations for deviations, identifying risks and opportunities.
* Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to senior management and business leaders.
* Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements across the business unit/function.
* Monitor and analyse expenditure, ensuring adherence to budget and company policies.
* Develop and implement financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
* Evaluate proposed investments, projects, and capital expenditures, performing robust ROI and NPV analysis.
* Monitor and report on the financial performance of ongoing investments.
* Process Improvement and Systems: Continuously identify and implement improvements to financial processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Work with IT and other finance teams to optimize financial reporting and analytical capabilities.
* Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/US GAAP), and relevant regulatory requirements within the pharmaceutical industry.
* Support internal and external audits as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master degree (MBA) or a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is highly preferred.
Experience:
* Minimum of 2+ years of progressive experience in finance roles, with a significant portion in a business partnering or FP and capacity.
* Prior experience within the pharmaceutical industry is preferable
* Demonstrated experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
* Experience with investment appraisal and strategic financial planning.
Skills:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including non-finance professionals.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
* Experience with SAP ERP systems.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles.
* Knowledge of the pharmaceutical value chain, including R&D, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and commercialization, is a significant advantage.
