The Role As a Team Lead you will be part of the Engineering team at LDMS, working closely with multi disciplined teams in order to deliver world class financial software for LDMS’ partners and clients. The two main focuses for the role are to manage the delivery commitments of the team and the performance of team members. Key Responsibilities From time to time, the key responsibilities may change or be adapted to the needs of the business; however, the below gives an overview of the key focus areas. Delivery Organising delivery ceremonies (refinement, planning etc) Driving a culture of continuous improvement Balancing the capacity of the team between product and technical debt improvements Ensuring that software has been developed to the agreed appropriate level of quality. Line Management Regular structured 1-2-1s Setting quarterly SMART objectives in line with business objectives Understanding and supporting career development Coaching & Mentoring Setting quarterly personal objectives Coaching attitudes and behaviours Reporting Providing visibility on progress and issues to Head of Product Engineering Facilitating and unblocking Single point of contact for the team Working closely with other Team Leads to ensure coordination of effort Providing a point of escalation for the team Facilitating team ownership of software, delivery & quality Technical Project Management Running technical initiatives in a structured way alongside product delivery Knowledge Knowledge sharing, both intra and inter team Identifying training requirements Ensuring the team produce documentation to the required standard Requirements Key skills we would see being useful for this role are: A solid understanding of agile software development practices and the art of software development Good verbal, written and communication skills A proven track record of delivering software projects Line management experience Coaching & Mentoring Hands on Java Engineering Experience (preferably Java 8) Whilst desirable, but not essential, we would see the following skills as being useful for this role: Experience developing REST APIs with Java (preferably Java 8) and Spring Boot Knowledge of SQL DB’s, preferably Postgres or Oracle Experience working with modern Continuous Integration tooling such as Jenkins Experience with version control systems such as Git What’s important to us?
