VIQU have partnered with a long-established engineering manufacturer known for producing highly complex, safety-critical industrial vehicles and systems. Operating at scale and with deep heritage in the UK engineering sector, they blend family values with modern innovation, delivering large multimillion-pound programmes across mechanical, electrical, software and production environments.
They are now looking for a Programme Manager to take ownership of their project management function, driving delivery across multiple interrelated programmes while influencing teams across engineering, production, purchasing, software and homologation.
This isn't a people-management role, but it is high-influence. You'll need to bring people with you in a matrix setup — securing buy-in, coordinating workloads, and ensuring your programme managers deliver projects on time, within budget and to quality.
The Role You'll lead programme governance end-to-end:
Overseeing delivery from initiation to closure, maintaining control over cost, time, quality, scope and risk.
Driving strategic alignment between projects and wider business objectives.
Ensuring visibility of programme health through KPIs, risk registers, RAG reporting and board-level updates.
Influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority, resolving bottlenecks, escalating supplier issues and coordinating dependencies.
Improving frameworks and processes — using best practice from both Agile and Waterfall — and helping standardise documentation, PPAP improvements and engineering change workflows.
Supporting and developing a small team of project managers.
What You'll Need Experience delivering complex engineering/manufacturing programmes, ideally in a similar product-driven, multi-discipline environment.
Proven leadership of both cross-functional teams and a small team of project managers.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple programmes simultaneously under structured governance.
Ability to operate confidently within a matrix environment — influencing, negotiating, and building strong working relationships.
Knowledge of PRINCE2 / Agile, MS Project, MS Teams/SharePoint, and MRP/ERP systems.
Accuracy, attention to detail and a proactive, improvement-driven mindset.
Nice to Have Engineering/manufacturing exposure such as BOMs, sales orders, engineering drawings or vehicle systems.
Power Platform experience.
STEM degree or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
