Skills and Qualifications
* Crit 1a (i) - Have a University degree in the area of Counselling or equivalent qualification, AND (ii) Have 100 hours post qualification verified counselling practice OR
* OR Crit 1b (i) Have a University degree in the area of Health and Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or Education, AND (ii) Have at least a Level 5 qualification in the area of Counselling AND
* AND Crit 1b (iii) at least 3 years experience in the relevant area to include 100 hours post qualification verified counselling practice. Relevant defined as in the area of Health and Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or Education OR
* OR Crit 1c (i) Have at least a Level 4 qualification in the area of Counselling, AND (ii) Be willing to attain a Level 5 qualification in the area of Counselling within three years of appointment AND
* AND Crit 1c (iii) Have at least three years industrial, professional or teaching experience in the relevant area to include 100 hours post qualification verified counselling practice.
* Relevant defined as in the area of Health and Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or Education.
* Hold current full membership of a professional body, e.g., BACP or IACP.
* Have GCSE English (Grade C or above) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent.
* Have GCSE Maths (Grade C or above) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent.
* Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples at least 2 years’ experience in counselling children and young people.
* Have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification recognised for teaching in the Northern Ireland FE Sector OR Be currently registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI).
