Senior Mechanical Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you play a vital role in our mission to modernise and enhance Thames Water’s sewage treatment works. Your expertise is essential in delivering innovative, cost-effective, and resilient solutions that protect our communities, safeguard the environment, and preserve vital ecosystems. You’ll also work closely with our contractors to ensure that all designs align with our technical requirements and quality standards.
What you’ll be doing as a Senior Mechanical Engineer
1. Collaborate with diverse internal stakeholders, including engineers, asset management, and operations to shape fit-for-purpose solutions and positively influence innovation, value for money, and resilience.
2. Ensure extensive collaboration with, and assurance of, consultants and contractors supporting large and complex capital projects.
3. Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, standards, and expectations to deliver solutions safely and meet technical and environmental requirements.
4. Support Thames Water’s ‘triple zero’ Health, Safety, and well-being vision by conducting audits and reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work.
5. Identify and support the management of delivery risks and opportunities.
6. Contribute to the creation of Project Briefs and respond to RFIs.
Location: Hybrid – Oxford Sewage Treatment Works. The successful candidate will be required to be on-site two to three days a week.
Hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
What you should bring to the role
* Degree level education in Mechanical Engineering.
* Experience in a design and construction-related role.
* Awareness of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015).
* Technical knowledge of pumping systems, mechanical package plant, and ability to work with various engineering disciplines to create operational solutions.
