As the Payroll Clerk, you will be responsible for processing and reconciling end-to-end payroll for employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments at all times. Duties will include administering payroll deductions, benefits, and pensions in line with company policies and employment contracts, while ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, tax, and National Insurance requirements. You will prepare and submit statutory returns such as RTI, support year-end processes including P60s, maintain accurate payroll records, and produce payroll reports for internal stakeholders. You will respond to payroll queries, providing clear guidance to employees, and work closely with HR to manage starters, leavers, salary changes, and leave updates. In addition, you will support audits, respond to payroll-related enquiries, identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems, and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Ideally, you will:
* Have solid experience within a payroll role, with a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and legislation.
* Be organised, accurate, and reliable, with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrate a proactive approach and a focus on continuous improvement.
* Have strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
