We're looking for a senior operative / Production Lead to join our on-site-solution at the Tesco, site in Thurrock. Its the perfect opportunity to take the next step in your career into a management role. The role will include hands-on operational work with scheduled time to build your skills in the value-add of management, including time working on H&S, Quality and your managerial skillsets.
CHEP manage a large pallet pool which is rented out to customers, and our operations repair and maintain the pallets. The primary purpose of the role is to lead a shift of 11 staff over a Monday to Friday shift, rotating 0600-1400 and 1400-2200. You’ll promote continuous improvement, safety and quality metrics whilst providing leadership to your team. You’ll also build and maintain good relations with 3rd party management teams on site.
Key responsibilities:
1. Supervise, develop, and coach employees to build and maintain good relationships with third party management teams.
2. Continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause (i.e. Data analysis and improvement / correction plans)
3. Ownership and control of all quality related issues on their site/shift.
4. Drive a zero-harm culture within the site/shift.
5. Conduct tours in the 1-CHEP Management Observation Tool (MOT)
6. Lead root cause analysis of all incidents that happen on shift.
7. Recognise change as necessary and willingly share knowledge across business areas.
8. Adapt and learn in new situations.
9. Control Yard and Warehouse movements delegating relevant tasks to FLT drivers bearing in mind warehouse needs.
10. Hold daily shift briefs and report plant KPIs.
11. Monitor and ensure consistent, timely responses to all relating to zero harm and production KPI.
12. Owning the controls on safety, quality, production.
13. Assist in monitoring of employee’s holidays in compliance with the holiday policy booking system.
14. Monitor and ensure consistent, timely responses to all relating to zero harm and production.
15. Managing and monitoring absence levels in accordance with Company procedures.
16. Deputise for the Site Lead in their absence.
What you’ll need:
17. Experienced in lean based/CI operational role would be an advantage.
18. 3 years in a production, manufacturing, or logistics environment
19. Ideally worked in a quality focused environment and familiar with quality-based standards.
20. Worked successfully in a matrix structure.
21. Strong numerical and verbal skills
22. Highly organised with a flexible, pro-active, self-motivated, and persistent approach.
23. Good coaching skills.
24. Proven skills and capabilities in communication and problem solving.
25. Knowledge and experience of quality principals.
26. Experienced in the application of MS-Office
27. Personal: Capabilities in Leadership, Project management and change
